Following the notorious story of WallstreetBates a few months ago, the company GameStop is doing much better than it was a year ago. Now a new website called nft.gamestop.com indicates that the firm is dipping its feet into blockchain technology through irreplaceable tokens built with Ethereum.
‘Power to the players’
The publicly listed company GameStop (Nasdaq: GME) has launched a new website dedicated to irreplaceable tokens (NXT). The public is not fully aware of the meaning of the web portal as GameStop has not officially announced the project. However, GameStop on April 8, 2021 Manifested It was hiring a security analyst, but was looking for someone who had experience with blockchain, cryptocurrency and NXT. Following the proposal, it was suspected that GameStop would take advantage of blockchain technology in some fashion.
The website was discovered by several Ethereum community members and the news went viral on Twitter. The website dubbed nft.gamestop.com is very retro-looking and a Cartridge-like Ethereum is being inserted into a portable gaming device like a Gameboy. The device states: “Power to players, power to creators, power to collectors.” The website also shows a Ethereum Smart Contract Address Too.
The smart contract is called “GameStop” and was created on May 25, 2021. Some transactions have already been sent. ETH Smart contract according to Etherscan. The website also notes that the company is “building a team.”
The website states, “We welcome exceptional engineers (Solidity, React, Python), designers, gamers, marketers and community leaders.” “If you want to join our team, send your profile or something that you have created: [email protected]”
The landing page also has a small white dot on the top right hand side of the page which leads to an interesting surprise game. To play the game, the player must take advantage of the space key on the keyboard to start the race. GameStop shares have been doing well lately and the shares are up 16% and swapping for $ 209 on Wednesday.
