On Thursday, McLaren Racing announced that the British motor racing team has selected Tezos as the organization’s official partner in the Indycar series, Formula One and esports. Tezo will create a non-fungible token (NFT) platform for McLaren Racing to showcase the motorsport group’s world-class drivers and “fantastic racing heritage”.
McLaren and Tezos team up to build NFT platform
The non-fungible token (NFT) economy has exploded and world-renowned automakers and motor racing teams are jumping into the action. Lindsey Eckhouse, Director of Licensing, Ecommerce and Esports at McLaren Racing, said: “Tezos and McLaren Racing united to create a unique fan-focused NFT platform is an innovative step in an exciting and rapidly developing industry.”
Tezos will also assist in McLaren Racing productions as a partner of the McLaren Shadow Esports team. The partnership will allow the Tezos brand to be featured on Arrow McLaren SP teams and in McLaren Formula One.
“At McLaren, we are known for putting fans at the heart of everything we do, and this is another partnership that allows us to enter a space where fans are an important piece of our team. Can,” Eckhouse said.
This is not Tezos’ first encounter with Formula One as F1’s Red Bull Racing Honda team signed an NFT deal with Tezos last month. The partnership announcement states that Tezos will help make Red Bull Racing a non-fungible token.
“McLaren Racing has one of the longest and most illustrious legacies in racing, and we are excited that they have chosen to bring it to the Tezos blockchain through their NFT fan engagement platform,” said Hubertus Thonhauser, President Tezos Foundation explained on Thursday.
