English Premier League’s Wolverhampton Wanderers football club will launch Fan Token as part of a new partnership with Turkish blockchain platform Bitki Technology.
The Premier League is the most followed soccer league in the world, the Bitci announcement reads. Turkey’s blockchain expert will develop the Wolves Fan Token on Bitcoin. Bitci’s own crypto exchange will first list Wolves’ fan tokens, followed by other exchanges around the world.
The multi-year agreement will see Wolves’ team jerseys and the Bitty logo on screens at Wolves’ historic stadium, Molineux, starting during the 2021-2022 season. As one of the founders of the Football League in England, the Wolves team has been playing their matches at Molyneux Stadium since 1889.
Commenting on the partnership, Wolves spokesman Russell Jones said, “We are looking forward to examining the options for fan tokens, which we believe will create another way to engage our fans in the UK and abroad.” ”
